1. A scientist trains a man with an advanced telepathic ability called scanning to stop a dangerous scanner with extraordinary psychic powers from waging war against non-scanners.
2. Psychiatric patients in a decaying asylum realize their hallucinations are actually visions of parallel timelines where they made different choices and some begin disappearing into those realities.
3. A hacker intercepts classified military data about surveillance satellites that can decode subconscious impulses but corporate agents retrieve the files by methodically eliminating everyone she contacted.
4. A geneticist creates designer pathogens that selectively target people based on their neurological patterns and uses them to eliminate witnesses who know about his daughter's death.
5. A medical team aboard an Antarctic research station discovers that their monitoring equipment begins reading the thoughts of frozen bacteria specimens awakening beneath the ice.
6. An obsessive archivist in Detroit develops experimental retinal implants that allow him to see electromagnetic fields but the technology slowly erases his capacity to recognize human faces.
