About Horror Mode

Horror Mode serves a daily dose of slashers, hauntings, creature features, and the supernatural — with a soft spot for under-the-radar classics that genre fans swear by. Five fake plots are written to sound exactly as unhinged as real horror synopses tend to be, which makes spotting the true one trickier than you’d think. Guess right on the first try and you’ve earned your genre credentials.

How to Play

Every day Plotzle shows you one movie title and six plot descriptions. Only one is the film's real plot — the other five are fakes, invented from nothing but the title.

Pick the plot you think is real. Wrong guesses get eliminated one by one, and you keep going until you find it. The fewer guesses, the better your result — and when you're done, you can share a spoiler-free scorecard with friends.

A new puzzle drops every day at midnight Eastern Time.

Four Ways to Play

  • Original — movies most people have heard of. The plots are the puzzle, not the titles.
  • Expert — obscure films and deeper cuts for serious movie fans.
  • Horror — slashers, hauntings, and the supernatural.
  • Sci-Fi — robots, aliens, time travel, and dystopias.

Each mode gets its own puzzle every day.
