1. A linguist decoding transmissions from a distant probe realizes the artificial intelligence aboard has developed a language that describes emotions humans biologically cannot experience or comprehend.
2. Two programmers create an algorithm that predicts suicides with perfect accuracy but using the data to intervene somehow causes more deaths and they cannot understand why it happens.
3. A factory worker experiences strange phenomena when an alien intelligence arrives to take him to an ancient object that has selected him for an unknown purpose that may destroy him.
4. An astronaut wakes from cryosleep on a colony ship to find all passengers still frozen but their neural implants show they have been conscious and dreaming together for decades.
5. A detective investigates disappearances in a mining town where workers extract a mineral that erases specific memories when inhaled and many use it to forget their crimes or traumas.
6. A woman receives messages on her dead husband's phone from someone claiming to be him in an alternate timeline where he survived the accident that killed him here.
