1. A cartographer in Montreal receives an inheritance from his estranged uncle and travels to rural England to catalog historic maritime maps while reconciling his family's fractured past.
2. A cargo pilot delivers medical supplies across Southeast Asia and befriends a local translator who guides him through border territories controlled by competing militias seeking to tax his routes.
3. An English teacher in Detroit helps a former student navigate re-entry after prison by offering him work and shelter but discovers the man has relapsed into heroin use.
4. A low-ranking intelligence employee gets promoted to agent after other agents die, then must investigate when crown jewels are stolen during an exhibition he was supposed to be guarding.
5. A documentary researcher tracks down survivors of a 1970s expedition and she learns that the official account omitted key events involving abandoned crew members in the Amazon basin.
6. Two brothers restore their late father's fishing boat in Cornwall and attempt a commercial expedition but argue over whether to honor traditional methods or adopt modern equipment.
