4. An addict's withdrawal hallucinations manifest as a demonic figure with a blade while his family locks him in their farmhouse basement and refuses to seek medical help.
5. A blacksmith in colonial Massachusetts forges knives that villagers blame for a series of murders when the actual killer remains free and paranoia consumes the settlement.
6. A woman researching medieval torture devices becomes convinced that a particular executioner's sword holds residual evil and her academic objectivity dissolves into dangerous obsession and imitation.
