1. A grieving astrophysicist interprets background radiation patterns as messages from his dead daughter and abandons his career to build a device that he believes will allow communication.
2. A young woman who witnessed her mother's alien abduction as a child joins a UFO cult, experiences revelations there, leaves the group, and later confronts her past to discover the truth about the organization.
3. A microbiologist discovers that a deep-sea bacteria produces euphoric hallucinations in human hosts and begins cultivating it in her apartment while her marriage disintegrates around her.
4. Two astronauts returning from Mars realize their memories of the mission contradict each other completely and neither can prove which version of events actually occurred during the blackout period.
5. A woman wakes in a sterile facility with no memory as staff members tell her she volunteered for consciousness transfer but the body she now inhabits belonged to someone else.
6. When the first artificial sunrise is activated over a permanent Antarctic research station the isolated crew begins experiencing synchronized violent dreams that leave physical wounds on their bodies.
